Minutes:

MINUTES OF THE LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP

BOARD OF EDUCATION

 

President Gallant called the meeting to order on January 14, 2006 at 9:10am.  Mrs. Barna read the following opening statement, “I would like to announce and have placed in the minutes that adequate notice of this special meeting of the Lopatcong Township Board of Education has been provided in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act by publication in the Express-Times.”

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

ROLL CALL

Present:  Dennis Drake, Ernie Gallant, Terry Glennon, Frank Kish arrived at 10:37am., Greg McGann, Jesse Rozycki, and Bill Taggart.

Absent:  Tim McGuinness and Raisy Stammherr

Others Present: Dr. Michael Rossi, Superintendent; Teresa E. Barna, Business Administrator/Board Secretary; Rosemary Kowalchuk, Principal; Matthew Eagleburger, Assistant Principal; JoAnn Murray, CST Director; and Diane Morris, representative of New Jersey School Boards Association.

Various topics were discussed.

New Superintendent Transition

Superintendent Goals were reviewed and discussed

  1. Communication

  2. Student Achievement

  3. Curriculum Revision

The Board offered feedback on the Superintendent’s progress towards the goals and objectives.

The Board discussed where there may be weaknesses within the Board structure as well as what the strong points are. The Board discussed the importance of policy.

The Board also reviewed board member roles and responsibilities.

Certain staff concerns were also discussed.

The Board agreed that a mission statement should be developed which would give the district goals and direction to accomplish that mission.

No action was taken at this meeting. Hearing no further business, the Board adjourned on a motion by Mr. Taggart, second by Mr. Glennon.
